Summer Camp meets American Idol Reality Show

Summer Camp meets American Idol Reality Show......that is literally what this program feels like. I'm just waiting for me to perform and right after someone will get up and say, "You suck, it's your time to go home." haha now I've been told that it won't happen but there is still that unsettling feeling that i have that it just might happen! We talked a lot about this last night at our community meeting. This is just a time for all 32 students plus John, Jenny, Jackson. It was just a time for all of us to talk about how we're feeling, what we're excited about and what we're nervous about. It's crazy how close we've all gotten so far...it's only been a week and a half and we literally all feel like we've known each other for at least a couple months! We were all for the most part excited but also nervous at the same time. I know I am! This is such an incredible experience that I am privileged to be a part of. Just think with me for a second.....when where there ever be another time in my life where i can pick up and leave Ohio and come to TN to live for four months with 32 other people who are either musicians or love music in some way. I also get to learn from the best people in the music industry, learn the fundamentals of song writing, perform my songs, and be critiqued on them.....hmmm NEVER will there be another time in my life that I'll experience this! O and another thing i've so excited about is.....in a couple weeks John and Jenny are taking all 32 of us to a cabin in Gaitlinburg, TN!! It's just a retreat for us to get away from music and relax. This place is going to be sweet....and i'm so excited for it!

This week we get to perform our first CMC Live show. 8 artists are going this week and then the other 7 will go next thursday. Each artist performs two songs. I am performing this week and playing two of my original songs, Psalm 40 and Out of the Rubble. For both of these songs at some point in them I have two other girls singing with me and we break out into three part harmony......ahh love harmonies! These girls, Whitney and Audrey....man can they sing! Whitney has such an incredible unique voice, i've seriously never heard anything like her voice before....but as soon as you hear it, it's like your hooked! ha! And Audrey, i've never seen anyone with her kind of range. She can probably hit like 2 octaves above my highest note and somehow she makes it sound so good! So needless to say, i'm so incredibly excited to be working with them this week. O, and I have a guy, Alex, who is playing Cello for both of my songs. He's pretty much amazing on the cello....love strings, really do!! And of course i can't leave out Lucas who is playing hand drum for one of my songs....incredible player he really is! O! and the artists got a manager this past weekend. Mine is Jalissa and let me just tell you she's such a good manager. She's SO organized. She sends me a calendar every morning of what my day is like and well she's brought me throat coat tea since i've been sick. She's pretty much amazing!! And i also get to play in the band of Stephanie, who is performing after me. The one song i'm playing in and singing background vocals is Independence Day by Martina McBride....let's just say Steph blows Martina McBride out of the water!! So basically the bottom line here is that everyone is extremely talented and i'm so excited and privileged that i get to be with them!!


Well, this is about all the time i have right now to update everyone. I have class again at 1 and then rehearsal times!
